Becoming a DM is exhausting work!!!

I finally had a moment to catch up with pictures and such today!

Yesterday was exhausting!!!

Jef, Black, Basir, and I went out again to go do some DM surface and underwater skills.

We did the tired diver tow (kind of self-explanatory) for about 100m.

I had to tow Black....hahaha.

Then we did the panic diver rescue where someone pretended to be a panicked diver (thrashing around at the surface as if they were drowning) and the other had to go save them. Basically going under and behind them (so they don't grab you and pull you under too) to inflate their BCD (the vest thing we wear). Black and I were joking that being the victim was actually more tiring then doing the rescuing b/c we had to fail around so much. Lol.

The we went down to the bottom and did a few underwater rescue skills like what to do in the event that someone runs out of air...that kind of thing. Since my allergy attack last week, I've had fluid in my Eustachian tubes which makes it very difficult for me to equalize my ears. I really hope it clears up soon!

Jef!! I <3 him so much. He's awesome!!

My fellow DM in-training, Black.

Basir washing the boat....hahahah.

I love my dive family!!

After our surface interval, we had to do two difficult skills. The first one was free dive down to 10m/32ft. Basically all we had was a mask and fins and had to go down and touch Jef's hand, since he was waiting down there (he had his scuba gear, don't worry!), and go back up in one breath. Going down wasn't a problem...going up was a different story! Haha, my lungs were screaming for air! Always remember to breathe out when ascending so your lungs don't actually burst!

Just after completing our skin dive of 10m!!!

The second difficult skill was treading water for 15 mins and the last 3 mins we couldn't use our hands. They had to be out of the water. Those last 3 mins were pretty tough! It didn't help that Jef was filming it and both he and Basir were making us laugh! Water kept on going into my mouth when I was laughing and so I kept on having to spit it out. Oh, we were so happy when it was over!!

"I put my hands up they're playing my song..." Haha. The exhausting 3 mins of no-hands treading water.

We did a free dive after that, thankfully, and got to relax finally!

I promise I don't actually eat clams in real life!!

Nudibranch...slugs of the sea!

I need to ask Jef what kind of fish these are...I totally forget. Ooops.

A little bromance going on...hahaha.

Basir, our awesome boatman! And he also took all the pics I'm in...haha!

That night Auntie Beth had a BBQ for both sides of her family and it was goooood. I love when they have BBQs - good food and good company. =)
