I am alive. Not quite kicking yet. Haha.
Daddy and I started out for the airport at 2:45am. Yes, in the morning. Basically, I didn't get any sleep that night b/c I was packing. Of course. Thankfully the airport wasn't crowded yet and it was a breeze getting through all the checkpoints and security.
16 hours on the plane went by quickly enough since I was sleep deprived. Five or six hours went by very fast, I can assure you. I even missed the first meal and we all know how much I like food. ;) The other hours were spent watching movies and napping.
Arrived in HK with the taste of my harrowing last visit still in my mouth. Thankfully, this time I only had an hour layover...which was actually a little bit nerve-wracking. I made it through security (it's weird when you look like everyone and their mother at the airport but you don't actually speak the language fluently...then security starts talking to you and you try to tell them you don't speak the language...but then you listen more carefully and you realize you actually understand what they're saying to you.....I am such a fail) and transits in record time and as I was walking towards my gate I realized I didn't have my ticket for the last leg of the trip...so I was contemplating whether or not I should go up to the counter...when lo and behold, an airport personnel from the counter approached me first! Apparently I look like my name. =.=
Anyway, they gave me my ticket and informed me that they needed to re-tag my luggage in order for it to make it's way to my final destination so I wouldn't have to collect it and re-check in, etc. BUT, and here's the clincher, they couldn't find my bags. But they assured me that they would find it right away and let me know. Yeah...the plane took off and they still hadn't told me anything, even after they stopped me at the check-in counter and gave me a formal lost report. Fail, HK airport!! I had so much faith in you after my scarring experience just months ago.
Arrived at my next destination and had to report my missing luggage again so they could file a report there. It was once again a time crunch b/c I had less than an hour to transit. Thankfully it's a small airport. Side story: I went to use the bathroom and when I came out to wash my hands two little kids were surprised b/c they didn't realized anyone was in my stall. So I was washing my hands and the little girl started speaking to me in Chinese and reaching her hand up to my faucet so I opened the water for her to and then helped her get paper towels to wipe her hands...and then her mother came out just as I was leaving and the little girl was exclaiming to the mother (in Chinese), "Big sister helped me!!!!!!" Hahahahahahah. It was so adorbs.
So the final leg was super short (and on a tiny plane), but I managed to finish my book. Huzzah. Auntie Belinda and Uncle Paul were there to pick me up and when she found out I didn't have any luggage with me, she was super distraught because I had brought her bags of tortilla chips for them. Hahahha. She wasn't distraught over me not having clothes or toiletries or anything....just her chips. She cracks me up. =)
So go figure, the ONE time I don't pack an extra change of clothes in my bag is the time my luggage decides to go missing. Ugh. Thankfully Auntie Belinda and I are about the same size. =)
Oh, and late night snack for me? Mangosteen, duku-lansat, and mangoes. It's GOOD to be back to my second home. =D
